The SEED
He called all the young executives in his company together. 'It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO,' he said. 'I have decided to choose one of you.' The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. 'I am going to give each one of you a seed today - a very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO.'
One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Every day, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure. Six months went by - still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however. He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - he so wanted the seed to grow.
A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection. Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick at his stomach. It was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room.
When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed. A few felt sorry for him! When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives. Jim just tried to hide in the back. 'My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,' said the CEO. 'Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!' All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room! With his empty pot. He ordered the financial director to bring him to the front.
Jim was terrified. He thought, 'The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!' When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed. Jim told him the story. The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, 'Here is your next Chief Executive! His name is Jim!' Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed. How could he be the new CEO the others said? Then the CEO said, 'One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed.BR I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers.
'When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive!'
Moral:
If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
If you plant goodness, you will reap friends.
If you plant humility, you will r! eap grea tness.
If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment
If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective.
If you plant hard work, you will reap success.
If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation.
So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

New Christmas Song
You'd better not cry
You'd better keep cash
I'm telling you why:
Recession is coming to town.
It's hitting you once,
It's hitting you twice
It doesn't care if you've been careful and wise
Recession is coming to town
It's worthless if you've got shares
It's worthless if you've got bonds
It's safe when you've got cash in hand
So keep cash for goodness sake, HEY
You'd better watch out
You'd better not cry
You'd better keep cash
I'm telling you why:
Recession is coming to town!
Finance products are confusing
Finance products are so vague
The banks make you bear the cost of risk
So keep out for goodness sake, OH
You'd better watch out
You'd better not cry
You'd better keep cash
I'm telling you why:
Recession is coming to town.

My review on W595
For W595, i personally felt that the basic requirement of the phone was not able to fulfil. The phone is very pretty and no doubt about it. The sound is also good, however, the screen is not as good, when i transferred pictures from PC to the phone and save it as screen saver & wallpaper, they become blurred even though the pictures were taken with high mega pixels. I was disappointed.
Next, which i am most particular about phone. The SMS alert only sounded for 5 seconds and stop with the screen become blackout, even i have set the alert to a song which last for at least 4 mins. I emailed Sony Ericsson about this and this is their reply:"The ringtones for your handset unit is only set to play for 10 - 15 seconds only." But i have tested many times and they dont ring more than 5 seconds. If i m waiting for a SMS, i must hold on to the phone otherwise I m sure to miss SMS. In fact, even since I have the phone I always miss SMS or miss calls because the ringing is simply too short. What would i be able to hear if i m in a noisy place and it rings only 5 seconds. NOTHING AT ALL!
Another thing about the phone which i dislike is the screen blackout within a few seconds of idling, even if there is a transmission between phones via bluetooth. I also emailed them and this is their reply :" I do apologize there are no setting for it as it is designed this way so that is does not consume more energy to the phone." But even i have the ability to charge the phone often, they dont allow for an option!

Marriage Passbook ("sent to the girls only")
Jocelyn married William this day. At the end of the wedding party, Jocelyn's mother gave her a newly opened bank saving passbook with $1000 deposit amount.
Mother: 'Jocelyn, take this passbook. Keep it as a record of your marriage life. When there's something happy and memorable happened in your new life, put some money in. Write down what it's about next to the line. The more memorable the event is, the more money you can put in. I've done the first one for you today. Do the others with William.
When you look back after years, you can know how much happiness you've had.'
Jocelyn shared this with William when getting home. They both thought it was a great idea and were anxious to know when the second deposit can be made.
This was what they did after certain time:
- 7 Feb: $100, first birthday celebration for William after marriage
- 1 Mar: $300, salary raise for Jocelyn
- 20 Mar: $200, vacation trip to Bali
- 15 Apr: $2000, Jocelyn got pregnant
- 1 Jun: $1000, William got promoted
.
..... and so on...
However, after years, they started fighting and arguing for trivial things.
They didn't talk much. They regretted that they had married the most nasty people in the world.... no more love...
Kind of typical nowadays, huh?
One day Jocelyn talked to her Mother.
Jocelyn: 'Mom, we can't stand it anymore. We agree to divorce. I can't imagine how I decided to marry this guy!!!'
Mother: 'Sure, girl, that's no big deal. Just do whatever you want if
you really can't stand it. But before that, do one thing first. Remember the saving passbook I gave you on your wedding day? Take out all money and spend it first. You shouldn't keep any record of such a poor marriage.'
Jocelyn thought it was true. So she went to the bank, waiting at the
Queue and planning to cancel the account.
While she was waiting, she took a look at the passbook record. She looked, and looked, and looked. Then the memory of all the previous joy and happiness just came up her mind. Her eyes were then filled with tears. She left and went home. When she was home, she handed the passbook to William, asked him to spend the money before getting divorce.
The next day, William gave the passbook back to Jocelyn. She found a new deposit of $5000. And a line next to the record: 'This is the day I notice how much I've loved you thru out all these years. How much happiness you've brought me.'
They hugged and cried, putting the passbook back to the safe.
Do you know how much money they had saved when they retired? I did not ask.
I believe the money did not matter any more after they had gone thru all the good years in their life.
May be we can change to Childhood Passbook!

Kidnapping!
I just heard that 1 distant relative was con $10K, bec of "kidnapping" her son! OMG! never thought this will happened near me....Then i asked why she dint call anyone else for help and to call her son immediately to confirm? Well, the kidnapper called her house phone and asked her if she has a handphone? Then instructed her not to use both the phones cos they will contact her ANYTIME! So end up she din have a chance to call for help! BTW, her son is already 20 plus, not small boy. perhaps she has been targeted! She is also not old, only early 50s....(my MIL live few blocks away only). If she call her, she wouldnt be con of her $10K.
So please inform your old folk at home to verify with the actually person, by calling his office/handphone or close colleague/friends, before u decide to what is the next action to take. Most ideal is to call the POLICE!
In Singapore, anyone caught kidnapping will be facing death penalty!
